War is one of the most severe social crises, disrupting the institutional order of society and undermining individuals’ psychological and social security. In such conditions, the family, as the first and most enduring social institution, plays a crucial role in supporting its members and reconstructing social cohesion. The main issue addressed in this study is to explain how the family can preserve and strengthen its supportive functions under wartime conditions and what role Qur’anic concepts play in explaining these functions. Using a theoretical–conceptual analysis and an interdisciplinary approach, this study examines the functions of the family in wartime crises based on sociological concepts and Qur’anic teachings. The findings indicate that Qur’anic concepts such as sakinah (tranquility), mawaddah (affection), rahmah (compassion), patience, cooperation, and benevolence provide a meaningful framework for strengthening the supportive functions of the family. In interaction with theories of family sociology and studies on social resilience, these concepts suggest that under wartime conditions the family can become an institution for generating psychological security, emotional cohesion, active adaptation, and the reproduction of social hope, thereby playing an important role in maintaining social continuity.
